Florida Military Academies

Florida is home to many well-established military academies. One of the oldest schools is Florida Air Academy, founded in 1961. This fully accredited school is located in Melbourne, Florida and offers students a variety of athletic and academic opportunities. Florida Air Academy strives to keep classes small, allowing teachers to give each student the proper attention. This boarding school has had 100 percent college acceptance rates for high school seniors for 30 years.

One of Florida’s newer military academies is Francis Marion Military Academy, located in Ocala. This charter school was founded in 2008 and is open for grades 9 – 12. Francis Marion Military Academy incorporates important military lessons into each class, which prepares students for college and beyond.

Sarasota Military Academy is located in Sarasota, Florida. This charter school is one of the few Florida high schools to receive a GreatSchools rating of 8 out of 10. Sarasota Military Academy offers students a variety of academic opportunities, as well as extracurricular activities such as band and cheerleading. Classes are also available for gifted students.

Southeastern Military Academy is a boarding school designed to help struggling boys who are in need of direction and discipline. Located in Port Saint Lucie, Florida this school provides a highly structured environment with academic opportunities as well as extracurricular activities. The staff at Southeastern Military Academy has extensive experience dealing with troubled boys, allowing them to change their negative behavior and make a positive change for the future.
