Nevada has much more to offer students than just deserts and casinos. Nevada, with its rich Native American history, has so much to offer potential students. Educational opportunities abound at various historic sites. Students can explore the Pony Express National Trail on holiday weekends. Nevada is also home to the Great Basin National Park.

The University of Nevada-Reno has a fantastic Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Students who are interested in pursuing a career as a commissioned Army officer should consider applying for the program. The scholarships available for this program include a monthly stipend for living expenses.

The University of Nevada-Reno also has a nursing program for cadets that are interested in becoming Army nurses. The Wolf Pack Battalion participates in various field training exercises throughout the school year. There are even training opportunities during summer breaks. Cadets at the University of Nevada-Reno spend time developing the leadership skills. Cadets are encouraged to compete for leadership positions. Cadets take pride in competing in the Nevada Ranger Challenge every year. Training in marksmanship, combat leadership and survival skills are all part of becoming an Army officer. Cadets graduate well-prepared for their future careers as leaders in the U.S. Army.
