Missouri Military Academies

The State of Missouri offers several high-quality military academies. These schools offer instruction for both junior high and high school students, and are in-residence academies. While military academies have long been stigmatized as a place troubled teens with legal, emotional or developmental issues get sent, this is no longer the case. Military schools are now being chosen by both parents and students as a place to get a quality education, while learning skills such as discipline, honor and integrity, that will help a child as they grow into adulthood. Time spent at a military academy as a teen may also be used as credit for military entry, gaining a youth a higher military rank when the join the United States Armed Services. Military academies also offer extracurricular activities found at public junior high and high schools.

Today’s military schools offer a positive approach; gone are the days of bullying, humiliating and intimidating. This newer approach leads students by example and positive reinforcement. This type of educational environment lends to a teen returning home to the community and retaining the tools and skills learned at the academy. This approach also leads to a higher satisfaction rating among both parents and students.
