Alaska Military Academies

Although it is located outside of the continental U.S., Alaska is home to various military schools and academies. Students have the option to participate in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs at the high school level. North Pole High School and Bartlett High School are just two of the schools that offer the JROTC program. Students are under no military obligation when participating in the JROTC program. The program focuses on responsibility and community service.

The Alaska Military Youth Academy is a free program for troubled teens. The program caters to 16 to 18 year olds who have dropped out of high school. The program, which begins with a residential phase, fosters an environment of accountability and self discipline.

Students at the college level that are interested in joining the Reserve Officer Training Corps can find out more information at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The Army ROTC program at the University of Alaska Anchorage organizes mentorship teams for new cadets to find success. In addition, cadets have the option of participating in various related clubs and groups. Alaska holds a variety of military academies for prospective students to choose from.
