New Mexico Military Academies

The New Mexico Military Institute is the only military academy in the state. The academy educates students in two divisions: grades nine through 12 and a two-year college program. Located in Roswell, the academy is a boarding school that requires students to live on campus. Founded in 1891 and a state-supported military academy, it received many distinct accolades and is accredited by two regulatory agencies that oversee and set standards of academics.

Its many accolades includes a large percentage of New Mexico Military Institute’s students moving onto successfully completing college. It also has the largest ROTC program, commissioning students to receive a college scholarship, then serving in one of the armed forces. Although its college preparatory education is demanding, it provides excellent academic and leadership training, as well as a strict regimen for physical activities to develop and promote physical fitness among its students.

Roswell is located in south, central New Mexico. The New Mexico Military Institute’s large campus is surrounded by fields. The academy offers a variety of sports and other activities for students to excel in. It also offers a variety of summer boarding programs to promote continuing education, sports, leadership, music and ROTC preparation training.
