Louisiana State University is home to the Tiger Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Tiger Battalion cadets strive to achieve excellent grades in addition to sharpening leadership skills. Leadership laboratories and field training exercises help students prepare for their future careers as officers. Students are required to take military science classes. In addition to academics, students are expected to meet physical fitness goals.
The Tiger Battalion also has various organizations available for cadets to join. Many cadets enjoy spending their leisure time on the Rifle and Pistol Team. The Bengal Raiders often raise the bar on physical fitness standards. Cadets in the Tiger Battalion are well prepared for the rigors of Army life after graduation.
