Wentworth Military Academy and College, established in 1880, is both a private college prep school and a military junior college, one of five such military junior colleges in the United States. Located in Lexington, Missouri, Wentworth is the oldest military school west of the Mississippi.
The Corps of Cadets includes both high school and college students. The Corps is divided into four companies and the junior college cadets are most of the leadership.
WMA’s campus is about 135 acres and is on the National Register of Historical Places. The current president is William W. Sellers. The team mascot is the Red Dragons. The school was not officially called Wentworth Military Academy until 1890.
