The University of Rhode Island is home to Cramer’s Saber Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Cadets in Cramer’s Saber Battalion make academic excellence a top priority. Cadets are also expected to keep up with Army physical fitness standards. Many students are encouraged to explore the scholarship options available through the ROTC program.
In addition to academic and physical standards, cadets must also further their military skills. There are numerous field training exercises scheduled throughout the year. Students get to put military theories and methods into practice during field exercises. Instructors promote leadership development in the classroom and in the field. Cadets at the University of Rhode Island can expect a well-rounded education to prepare them for life as a commissioned Army officer.
