The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is home to the Mount Rushmore Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Cadets in the Mount Rushmore Battalion are expected to keep a high academic standard of excellence. Students who are majoring in subjects like science and engineering can also add military skills to their college education. Classes in leadership development are part of the ROTC curriculum.
Cadets at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology are very active in their physical fitness program. Meeting and exceeding Army standards is imperative for future officers. Leadership skills can be attained during weekly laboratories. Cadets also get the benefit of learning military skills during field training exercises. The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology prepares cadets for exciting military careers.
