Fishburne Military School is one of the oldest military schools in the United States. Founded in 1879 by James A. Fishburne the military school is still active today with about 180 cadets enrolled.
Fishburne Military School is a Army JROTC program boarding school and has been such for more than 90 years. Cadets travel to military bases to use their obstacle courses and training facilities on top of the JROTC at their campus.
Fishburne is an all boy boarding school and has been since 1881. The architectural style of the campus is Late Victorian and was built in 1916 on 9 acres.
The school was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1984 and is a member of the Virginia Independent Athletic Conference.
