West Hill High School in Stamford, Connecticut is home to a motivated Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. The West Hill drill team is competitive, and they can be seen marching in local parades. Their drill team is one of the best in their region.
The military rank structure encourages students to attain success. Leadership skills are developed through promotions in rank. Physical fitness is an important component to the junior ROTC program. In addition, students are expected to wear uniforms once a week.
Leadership programs and field trips help students to understand more about the military lifestyle. Students especially enjoy the annual military ball. Skills that are learned in junior ROTC help students to succeed in high school and at the college level.
