Military Schools in Mississippi
Mississippi Military Academies
Mississippi has three military academies in the state. Two of its military academies are structured for troubled youth to allow them to learn skills and become productive members of society. The Challenge Academy allows troubled youth to obtain structured training and education. The program consists of a 22-week residential phase, followed by one year mentoring phase. Students are assigned a mentor who provides advice, assistance and tracks the student’s progress in furthering their education or finding employment. Similar to the Challenge Academy, the Bethel Boys Academy help troubled teen boys become educated and disciplined. The school has a variety of academic and military-base training, all of which are designed to assist troubled teens with a variety of emotional, mental and other challenges such as drug addiction.
The Chamberlain-Hunt Christian Military Academy is a male boarding school for students in grades seven through 12. Day classes are co-educational. The school provides strict military-structured training, an strong academic program and also instills spiritual development based on the school’s strong Christian beliefs. The academy offers introductory summer programs to prepare new students entering the academy. The Chamberlain-Hunt Christian Military Academy is one of the oldest military schools in the United States.
