Military Schools in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Military Academies
Pennsylvania has two military academies in the state. Carson Long Military Academy is located in New Bloomsfield, Pennsylvania is a male boarding school for students grades six through 12. Founded in 1836, it’s the oldest boarding school that provides military training in the United States. The school is located in central Pennsylvania, a short distance north of the capital of Harrisburg. The school’s academic program requires 21 credits for graduation. Carson Long also plans a variety of activities for students on the weekends, including overnight parent visits, trips to historic and fun cities in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., an overnight camping trip and dances.
Valley Forge Military Academy is located in Wayne, Pennsylvania west of Philadelphia. The academy is located close to National Historical Valley Forge Park, where the Revolutionary War was fought. The school was founded in 1928 by General Milton G. Baker and is both an academy and college. The academy is a military boarding school for boys in grades seven through 12. The Valley Forge Military College is one of five military junior colleges in the United States. The student body represents students from all over United States and 35 other countries around the world.
