Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania is home to the Raider Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Cadets are held to a higher academic and physical standard than their traditional college peers. Cadets attending Shippensburg University have various majors to choose from. Military science courses count as electives toward their degree. Students can obtain scholarships to cover books, tuition and fees. Some scholarships even cover living expenses.

Leadership development is obtained during laboratories and field training exercises. Field training exercises are mandatory for students in the ROTC program. Student will acquire their basic infantry skills out in the field. A rigorous physical fitness program and confidence-building challenges push cadets to their limits.
