Iowa State University is home to the Cyclone Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Academic excellence is a core component to the ROTC unit at Iowa State University. Cadets in the Cyclone Battalion spend time developing their leadership skills. There are various training exercises available outside of the classroom as well.
They have two, three and four year programs for students that are interested in commissioning after college. Iowa State University takes pride in the well-prepared second lieutenants it produces. Dedicated cadets can attain scholarships for their tuition and books. ROTC cadets are held at higher standards than other college students. Iowa State University’s Army ROTC program fosters an environment for leadership and character development for future military leaders.
