Duke University in Durham, North Carolina is home to a proud Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. In addition to Duke University’s legendary high academic standards, the Naval ROTC program requires intense leadership and character development. Midshipmen at Duke University take classes in naval sciences.
Midshipmen are encouraged to take on more leadership responsibilities as they progress in the program. Midshipmen are expected to meet high physical fitness standards while they are in the ROTC unit. They have busy social calendars in addition to all of the studying and working out. Midshipmen organize and execute balls, inspections and award days. Duke University prepares its midshipmen for the challenges of life as an officer.
