Oak Ridge Military Academy is a military college prep school in North Carolina. The school is also known by its acronym: ORMA. The school is named after the town that it is located within. Oak Ridge is about 8 miles from Greensboro, NC.
ORMA was founded in 1852 as a finishing school for boys which makes it the third oldest military school in the United States that is still operated.
The school has served a number of different purposes throughout its history, but today the school is a private coeducational military boarding school intended as college prep. It has been that way since 1972. The Academy is divided into a middle and a high school and the Corps of Cadets is several companies.
