The Washington Youth Academy in Bremerton, Washington provides at-risk youth with a structured environment for success. The Washington Youth Academy is a state run military-style, boarding academy for troubled teenagers from 16 to 18. The first 20 weeks of the program are residential with a strict military schedule. Personal responsibility and self discipline are heavily emphasized during this part of the program.
After the initial 20 weeks, students may return home. They keep in contact with a mentor for the following 12 months to ensure success. Students can take classes and work on their GED or high school diploma during this time. The Washington Youth Academy is a free program for students that need it. The ultimate goal is to help these troubled students become successful members of society.
