Students attending Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia can participate in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Students will study their regular classes at Fairmont State University, but they must take ROTC classes at West Virginia University. Cadets will still participate in the physical fitness program.

Leadership development is a major part of the ROTC curriculum. Cadets will focus on discipline and selfless service. Cadets will need to manage their time wisely for commuting to their ROTC classes. Scholarship opportunities are available for cadets. Some degree programs have automatic scholarship opportunities, like nursing. Fairmont State University in conjunction with West Virginia State University produce well rounded second lieutenants.
