Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia is home to the Thundering Herd Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Cadets in the Thundering Herd Battalion spend time developing their leadership skills. In addition to their regular classes, they also take classes in military science and troop leadership procedures.
Cadets must participate in the rigorous physical fitness schedule. Adhering to Army standards is imperative for young cadets. Students are also expected to attend a weekly leadership laboratory. Field training exercises help students apply what they have learned in class. Marshall University’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program makes sure cadets are prepared for their future leadership positions.
