Military Schools in Virginia
Virginia Military Academies
Virginia has six military academies and three military colleges located all over the state. Four academies including Fishburne Military School, Hargrave Military Academy, Massasnutten Military Academy, and Randolph-Macon Academy educate male students grades seven through 12. Fork Union Military Academy educates males in grades six through 12, and Benedictine College Preparatory Academy accepts students in grades nine through 12.
Virginia’s three military colleges all offer bachelor’s degree programs. Virginia Military Institute and Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets are co-educational and residential colleges. Viringia women’s Institute for Leadership at Mary Balwin College is the only female Cadet Corps in the world. It’s also a residential college.
Four of the military academies in Virginia accept only male students and two accept male and female students. All military academies in Virginia do not require students to live on campus, but some are also boarding schools. Benedictine College Preparatory school is the only military academy in Virginia that is a Catholic school. Virginia Military Institute is a state-sponsored academy and along with Virginia Tech Corp Cadets, maintained both cadets and civilian students since they were founded. Viringia has the highest number of military academies and colleges in the United States.
