Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas is home to the Gorilla Battalion, an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. The Gorilla Battalion offers multiple options for students interested in commissioning in the U.S. Army after graduation. Cadets are required to participate in leadership activities throughout the school year. In addition to regular leadership activities, students are required to participate in field training exercises.
Field training exercises are where cadets learn their basic infantry skills. Students are encouraged to participate in various social gatherings and extracurricular activities. Honor Guard is a great place to sharpen drill and ceremony skills. The Gorilla Battalion also offers cadets opportunities for attending cultural immersion programs overseas. The Army ROTC program at Pittsburg State University makes preparing future leaders the top priority.
