Brief Overview
New Mexico Military Institute is a military school in Roswell, New Mexico, sometimes known as the “West Point of the West.” The school is state-supported and is the only such state-supported military college in the western United States.
NMMI offers four year college prep (9-12) and a junior college that is two years. The Institute was founded in 1891 and is one of five military junior colleges in the USA. Military junior colleges allow graduates to become officers in two years rather than four.
There are almost 1,000 cadets enrolled. 100 cadets each year go on to one of the five major US Military academies.
